SEO FOR CLEANING COMPANIES

The domestic side of your market is a race to the bottom. The commercial side is worth about four times as much per customer and, strangely, fewer people are fighting over it.

YOU WILL BE IN GREAT COMPANY

8,100

EVERY MONTH, 8,100 AUSTRALIANS SEARCH FOR END OF LEASE CLEANING

The biggest search in cleaning is not a service. It is a deadline. Someone has a bond on the line and a date they have to be out by.
Which makes it the least price-sensitive domestic work you will ever quote. But the terms sitting in the middle of the list below are the ones that actually change a cleaning business.

WHAT ACTUALLY GETS SEARCHED IN AUSTRALIA

These are real numbers, pulled August 2026. Every search on this list is work a cleaning company can quote and invoice.
Commercial and office cleaning searches are worth roughly four times more per click than the domestic ones. That part is not surprising: a domestic clean is a booking, a commercial clean is a contract.
What is surprising is that fewer people are competing for them. Google publishes a competition score for every search term, and the domestic terms sit near the top of the range while the commercial ones sit well below it.
WHAT PEOPLE SEARCH
MONTHLY SEARCHES
end of lease cleaning (8,100 searches a month)
cleaning services (5,400)
bond cleaning (4,400)
commercial cleaning (3,600)
office cleaning (2,400)

THE VALUABLE HALF IS THE LESS CROWDED HALF

More businesses are fighting over the cheaper work than over the expensive work. That is unusual, and it is worth understanding before you spend a dollar on either.

It is the same local search work we run across all our Brisbane SEO campaigns, pointed at the half with the margin in it.

The map pack

Own the three listings.
The “near me” searches are decided by the three results in the map box. Google Business Profile with every service listed individually rather than lumped under “cleaning”, service areas that match where you actually send staff, and a review process that runs after every job.
Show up when locals are searching

Your Google Business Profile, suburb pages and local listings built so the person with a bond on the line finds you first.

A website Google wants to rank

Technical fixes and service-focused SEO that make your site easy for Google to understand and trust.

Reviews, rankings and booked jobs

Build your reputation through reviews, with monthly reports tracking rankings and the jobs and contracts that came from organic search.

A page per job type

Not one Services page.
End of lease, bond, commercial, office, strata, builders clean, NDIS. Each is its own search, its own buyer and its own page. The single Services page with seven bullet points ranks for none of them and usually gets blamed on the market.
A technically sound foundation

Site speed, crawlability, schema markup, and Core Web Vitals sorted so Google can index and trust your site.

Content each buyer actually searches

A strata manager, a builder handing over a site and a practice manager needing police-checked staff are three different pages, not three lines on one.

Authority that stacks over time

Backlink building and on-page optimisation that compounds month over month.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

WHY SEO FOR CLEANING COMPANIES IS DIFFERENT

Cleaning search does not behave like other service trades. Here is where the generic playbook falls over.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

The cheap work is the crowded work

In most trades the valuable keyword is the contested one. In cleaning it is the other way round, and a plan built by sorting on search volume walks you straight into the busiest, cheapest half of your own market.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

We sort by margin, not by volume

Real Australian search data for your suburbs and job types, with how contested each one actually is sitting next to it. You get the numbers, including which of the big ones we would rather you ignored.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

Your best customer never searches “cleaning”

They search strata, or builders clean, or medical centre, or NDIS. If your site only says Commercial, you are invisible to every one of them.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

A page for each buyer

Written for the person actually searching. A strata manager has different worries to a gym owner, and neither of them wants to read about your family values.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

One Services page is costing you the market

Seven job types, seven buyers, seven searches, one page. It cannot rank for all of them and in practice it ranks for none.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

We build the pages that can rank

One page per job type, each answering the question that buyer actually has, and suburb pages only where you genuinely send staff.

THE HALF OF YOUR MARKET NOBODY BUILDS FOR

Every one of these is a different buyer with a different problem. A strata manager, a builder handing over a site, a gym owner with a hygiene obligation, a practice manager who needs someone police checked. None of them search “cleaning services”. They search their own situation.

Google Ads data, Australia, August 2026.
Most cleaning websites have one page called Commercial with a paragraph on it. That page is competing with eight different searches at once and winning none of them.

These are also, on Google’s own competition scoring, less contested than the domestic terms that get all the attention.

HOW WE DO SEO FOR CLEANING COMPANIES

No fluff, no six-month waiting game. We start with the work you actually want more of.
01

We work out which work you want

Not “more cleans”. Domestic recurring, end of lease, commercial contracts, strata, NDIS, builders cleans. A two-person domestic operation and a business chasing office contracts have almost nothing in common in their plan, and the commercial route takes longer to pay off.
02

We take the map pack

Google Business Profile rebuilt, every service listed individually, service areas matching where you actually send staff, and a review process that runs after every job.
03

We build the pages that compound

A page per job type, suburb pages where you genuinely operate, and the commercial vertical pages that take longer and are worth the most. Then monthly reporting on booked jobs and contract enquiries, including the months it went sideways.

WHAT THIS COSTS

Every other page on this topic dodges this with “it depends on your goals”. Here is a straighter answer.

It depends on how many job types you want to rank for, how many suburbs you genuinely service, whether you are going after commercial contracts as well as domestic, and what state the site and the Google Business Profile are in when we start. A domestic operator in three suburbs is a different job to a business tendering for strata and office contracts. It is the same local search work we do across our Brisbane SEO clients.
What we will not do is quote you a retainer before we have looked. Get in touch and we will look at your suburb, tell you what is realistic, and put a number on it.

FAQS

Got questions? We’ve got the answers.

Movement in 8 to 12 weeks, usually in the map pack because that is the fastest lever. Real change in job volume takes 6 to 12 months, and the commercial side takes longer than the domestic side because the sales cycle is longer. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either targeting terms nobody searches or about to do something that gets your site penalised.

No, and nobody who says otherwise can either. What you will get is full visibility of what we are doing, what it is producing, and full admin access to every account.

Only if you want it to be. Plenty of good businesses stay domestic on purpose, and if that is you we build for end of lease, recurring domestic and the suburbs you actually cover. We would rather do that well than talk you into a market you do not want.

Not cleaning. We have worked with roofers, pest control and trade services businesses where the local search behaves the same way, and we would rather tell you that than dress it up. If you want an agency with a shelf of cleaning case studies, there are specialists who do nothing else.

Then the fastest win is usually making sure you turn up when someone googles your business name after a referral, and that your end of lease page answers what the agent will actually check. Both are quick.

It is the biggest search in your industry and the customer has a deadline and a bond, which makes them far less price sensitive than a regular domestic clean. It is competitive, but it converts.

It changes where the click happens, not whether a strata manager needs a cleaner. AI answers pull from sources that are structured, locally trusted and clearly authored, which is the same work that gets you into the map pack.

Rankings decay slowly rather than switching off. Your map pack position and job-type pages keep working for a while, and they degrade as competitors keep publishing and you do not.
