Your patients are not searching for a dentist. They are searching for the thing that is bothering them. There is a big difference, and it is worth about 108,000 searches a month.
"*" indicates required fields
Australian search volumes, Semrush. Treatment terms only, with the generic left off deliberately.
Three channels, three jobs. A practice usually needs all three, staggered rather than launched at once. It is the same model our Brisbane digital marketing agency runs across every industry we work in, only the numbers underneath it change.
META ADS
Nobody wakes up wanting Invisalign. Meta reaches people in your suburbs before they start looking, plants the idea and makes your name familiar, so when they do search, yours is the one they recognise.
GOOGLE ADS
Catches them the moment they search, including the ones Meta warmed up. Fastest of the three to fill a chair, and the only one working at 8pm when someone has broken a tooth.
SEO
Takes over the same treatment searches Google Ads is paying for, permanently and for free. Slowest to arrive, cheapest to keep, and the reason your paid bill should fall over time.
Google Ads tells us within about six weeks which treatment searches actually produce booked appointments, so SEO gets aimed at those rather than guessing for six months. Meta retargeting picks up everyone who read your Invisalign page and did not book, which for a treatment people consider for months is most of them. And as SEO ranks for a treatment, we pull the paid spend off it and move it to the next one.
The work behind each one, so you can tell whether a proposal is describing effort or just naming a platform.
THE SLOW ASSET
A real page per treatment rather than a Services list. Google Business Profile built properly, categories right, and a review process that runs after appointments. Suburb pages for the areas you draw from. This is what moves the map pack and the treatment terms.
THE FAST LEVER
Campaigns split by treatment, not one campaign called Dental. Negative keywords so you stop paying for people searching dental assistant courses and bulk billing when you do neither. Conversion tracking on calls as well as forms, because most practices get booked by phone.
THE ONE MOST PRACTICES SKIP
The one most practices skip. Awareness in your suburbs for the treatments nobody searches for yet, and retargeting for everyone who read a treatment page and did not book. For high value work with a long decision, this is usually where the booking actually comes from.
We start from which chair is empty, not from which service we would like to sell you. A practice with a full hygiene book and an idle implant chair needs Meta Ads and a treatment page, not more check-up traffic. A new practice with four reviews needs Google Ads while the SEO catches up. We will tell you on the call if one of the three is not worth running for you.
Not a strategy document. These are the three pages we would put up first for a Brisbane practice, why those three, and the numbers behind each one.
Built around “invisalign”
One real page per treatment, not a line on a Services list. Someone searching a treatment name has already decided what they want and is choosing where to have it done. Start with whichever treatment you most want more of, because that is the chair you are trying to fill.
Built around “emergency dentist”
Smaller number, no deliberation. Someone in pain at 8pm is not comparing practices, they are ringing whoever answers and can see them tomorrow. Most practice sites bury this on a contact page. It deserves its own, with your after-hours arrangement stated plainly.
Built around “dentist near me”
The biggest number and the hardest to move, because it is decided in the map box on reviews and proximity. Worth doing properly, worth being honest that it is a slower fight than the treatment pages, and worth not spending your whole budget on.
Tell us your suburbs and the treatments you want more of. We will come back with the real search numbers for your area and the three pages we would start with. Fifteen minutes, no obligation, and you keep the research either way.

Agency fees usually work one of three ways: a percentage of your ad spend, a flat monthly retainer, or a base fee plus a percentage above a threshold. Percentage models get expensive as you scale and quietly reward the agency for spending more of your money. Ask which model an agency uses and why before you ask for a number. Separately from fees, budget enough for the data to mean something: a handful of clicks a day will not tell you whether a treatment page converts.
Both, in that order of effort but the reverse order of priority. “Dentist near me” does 60,500 a month and is decided in the map pack on reviews and proximity, so it is slow and it is not won with content. The nine main treatment searches add up to 108,100 a month between them and each one can be won with a real page. Start with the treatment you most want to do more of.
Regulated health services sit under the National Law, which restricts testimonials about clinical care, misleading before and after imagery, and claims of superiority like “best dentist in Brisbane”. Practical effect: you can describe treatments, credentials, facilities and process, and you can carry reviews about customer service. You cannot carry patient reviews about clinical outcomes. Have your practice manager review anything before it goes live, and expect us to hand over copy for that review rather than publishing straight to the site.
Carefully, and many practices get this wrong. Ahpra guidance is strict about imagery that could create an unreasonable expectation of benefit, including consistent lighting, angles and no retouching, plus the same patient in both images and appropriate consent. If you are unsure, the safe answer is to leave them off and describe the treatment instead. We will not talk you into using them.
Three to six months to move and six to twelve before it is a real part of your new patient flow. Treatment pages generally rank faster than “dentist near me” because the competition is thinner and the intent is clearer. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either targeting terms nobody searches or about to do something that risks the site.
For “dentist near me” they are close to the whole game, because the map pack is ranked heavily on them. Keep in mind the Ahpra restriction: reviews about clinical outcomes are a problem, reviews about the front desk, the wait, the parking and how the appointment felt are not. Ask for the second kind.
Useful for the treatments with a deadline, particularly emergency, and useful for testing which treatment terms convert before you invest six months of content in them. Our Google Ads team runs that side, and what it learns points the slower organic work at the right treatments.
The Google Business Profile and a review process, before any content. A new practice with four reviews will not appear in the map pack no matter what is written on the site. In the meantime paid search can fill the gap, because it does not care how long you have been open.
Yes. The search behaviour is the same anywhere in Australia, only the suburb names and the competitor set change. The treatment volumes quoted on this page are national.
We look at what your suburbs actually search for by treatment, your Google Business Profile, your reviews against the practices ranking above you, and whether your site has real pages for the treatments you want more of. You get that in writing and you keep it whether you work with us or not.
