SEO FOR ELECTRICIANS

Half the search volume with “electrician” in it belongs to auto electricians, and none of those people will ever call you. The jobs worth ranking for are the ones most sparkies cannot do.

YOU WILL BE IN GREAT COMPANY

40,500

EVERY MONTH, 40,500 AUSTRALIANS SEARCH FOR AN ELECTRICIAN NEAR THEM

40,500 typed “electrician near me” into Google. Another 2,900 wanted an emergency electrician, and 1,900 were looking for a Level 2.
Every one of those is a job on a street somebody drives to. Good SEO for electricians is knowing which of those searches turn into invoices and which ones belong to a completely different trade.

WHAT ACTUALLY GETS SEARCHED IN AUSTRALIA

These are real numbers, pulled August 2026. Every search on this list is a job a licensed electrical contractor can invoice.
That list has something missing from it on purpose. “Auto electrician near me” does 27,100 searches a month. Another 14,800 want an auto electrician and 5,400 want a mobile one. Roughly fifty thousand searches a month for a completely different trade, sitting right next to yours in every keyword tool there is.
If an agency shows you a plan built around fifty thousand searches, check which trade those searches are for. Someone whose alternator has died is not going to book a switchboard upgrade.
WHAT PEOPLE SEARCH
MONTHLY SEARCHES
electrician near me (40,500 searches a month)
emergency electrician (2,900)
ev charger installation (2,400)
level 2 electrician (1,900)
commercial electrician (1,600)
emergency electrician near me (1,300)
switchboard upgrade (1,000)

THE MONEY IS IN THE LICENCE

Every keyword on that list can be outspent by someone with a bigger budget. One of them cannot be entered at all.

It is the same local search work we run across all our Brisbane SEO campaigns, pointed at the jobs that actually pay.

Level 2

An accreditation, not a marketing term.
Service mains, overhead and underground connections, metering, disconnections and reconnections. Network-side work. Most electricians do not hold it, which means most electricians cannot compete for the search no matter what they spend. It is the rare case where competition is capped by licensing rather than by budget.
Show up when locals are searching

Your Google Business Profile, suburb pages and local listings built so the person with no power finds you first.

A website Google wants to rank

Technical fixes and service-focused SEO that make your site easy for Google to understand and trust.

Reviews, rankings and booked jobs

Build your reputation through reviews, with monthly reports tracking rankings and the jobs that came from organic search.

The jobs worth having

Emergency, commercial, compliance, EV.
Someone whose power is out at 9pm is not comparing three quotes. Builders sourcing a contractor are a different buyer again. Smoke alarms and safety switches are mandated, recurring and searched every month, and almost nobody has a page for any of it.
A technically sound foundation

Site speed, crawlability, schema markup, and Core Web Vitals sorted so Google can index and trust your site.

Content customers actually search for

A page per service that actually pays, and suburb pages where you genuinely work, not a fourteen-item services list.

Authority that stacks over time

Backlink building and on-page optimisation that compounds month over month.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

WHY SEO FOR ELECTRICIANS IS DIFFERENT

Electrical search does not behave like other trades. Here is where the generic playbook falls over.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

Half your keyword research is a different trade

Auto electricians share your job title and none of your customers. Any plan built on raw “electrician” volume is mostly counting people with a car problem, and it will look impressive right up until the phone does not ring.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

We filter before we plan

Real Australian search data for your suburbs and your services, with the wrong trade and the apprenticeship searches stripped out before anyone builds a strategy on them.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

Your best jobs are your least searched

Level 2, emergency call-outs and commercial contracts are smaller numbers than the head term and worth many times more per job. Chasing the biggest number is how you end up busy and unprofitable.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

We build for the invoice, not the impression

We work out which jobs you want more of, check what you are licensed to do, and build for those searches rather than the ones that make a report look good.
✕ THE GENERIC PLAYBOOK

Your website is a services list

Most sparkie sites have one page listing fourteen services and a contact form at the bottom. The revenue comes from a booked job, and the site is rarely built to get one.
✓ THE DOMINATE WAY

Built around the call

Tap-to-call on every page, after-hours availability above the fold if you run it, a page for each service that pays, and call tracking so you know which jobs came from search.

THE JOB THAT BARELY EXISTED FIVE YEARS AGO

In 2021, Australians searched for EV charger installation about a hundred times a month. It now runs around three thousand. Roughly thirty times the demand in five years.

Most of that shift happened between 2021 and 2024 and it has held there since, so this is not a wave you are early for. It is a job that quietly became normal while most electrician websites carried on without a page for it. It is already one of the most contested terms in the trade, which tells you the advertisers worked it out a while ago.

HOW WE DO SEO FOR ELECTRICIANS

No fluff, no six-month waiting game. We start with the jobs you actually want and build out from there.
01

We work out which jobs you want

Not “more leads”. Level 2, emergency, commercial fit-outs, compliance, EV. A one-van residential operator and a commercial contractor chasing builder relationships have almost nothing in common in their plan. We check what you are licensed for before we build anything around it.
02

We take the map pack

Google Business Profile rebuilt, every service listed individually, service areas matching where you actually drive, and a review process that runs after every job rather than in bursts.
03

We build the pages that compound

A page per service that actually pays, suburb pages where you genuinely work, and the compliance and EV content that keeps earning. Then monthly reporting on booked jobs, including the months it went sideways.

WHAT THIS COSTS

Every other page on this topic dodges this with “it depends on your goals”. Here is a straighter answer.

It depends on how many services you want to rank for, how many suburbs you genuinely cover, whether you want commercial as well as residential, and what state the site and the Google Business Profile are in when we start. A one-van operator is a different job to a contractor with six vehicles and a commercial pipeline. It is the same local search work we do across our Brisbane SEO clients.
What we will not do is quote you a retainer before we have looked. Get in touch and we will look at your suburb, tell you what is realistic, and put a number on it.

FAQS

Got questions? We’ve got the answers.

Movement in 8 to 12 weeks, usually in the map pack because that is the fastest lever. Real change in job volume takes 6 to 12 months. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either targeting terms nobody searches or about to do something that gets your site penalised.

No, and nobody who says otherwise can either. What you will get is full visibility of what we are doing, what it is producing, and full admin access to every account.

Yes, the plan just looks different. Emergency, commercial and compliance work carry the next highest value and none of them need the accreditation. We would rather build for what you can actually do than sell you visibility for jobs you would have to turn down.

Not electrical specifically. We have worked with roofers, pest control and trade services businesses where the search behaves the same way, and we would rather tell you that than dress it up. The local search work is the same discipline whether the job is a roof inspection or a switchboard.

Because word of mouth still gets googled. Someone gets your name from a neighbour, searches it, and lands on whatever Google decides represents you. If that is a thin listing or a competitor’s ad, the referral you already earned goes somewhere else.

Then the plan looks completely different. Commercial searches are lower volume, longer cycle and usually less contested, and the content is written for a builder or facilities manager rather than a homeowner. Say so early and we will build for it.

It changes where the click happens, not whether someone with no power needs an electrician nearby. AI answers pull from sources that are structured, locally trusted and clearly authored, which is the same work that gets you into the map pack.

Rankings decay slowly rather than switching off. Your map pack position and service pages keep working for a while, and they degrade as competitors keep publishing and you do not.
